TreeGrowers Course

An information night being held in Traralgon in coming days will show farmers how they can make money from growing trees.

The Gippsland Agroforestry Group will host the evening which will launch the 2020 Master Tree Growers course at the offices of the West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority (WGCMA), 16 Hotham St Traralgon, on Wednesday February 26 at 7.30pm.

“We’ve run a couple of these over the last few years and they have been especially popular,” said Latrobe Catchment Landcare Network facilitator, John Crosby.

“Participants are exposed to a range of issues through the course ranging from what species of tree to select at their specific location to market demands, carbon storage, harvesting, and milling,” added John.

The course, which will run over eight days from May to June, will see participants travel throughout Gippsland to see various agroforestry projects across the region.

“This is a great opportunity for any landholder looking to diversify how their property is being used as well as assist the environment along the way,” concluded John.
