Macalister Land and Water Management Plan Renewal

The Macalister Land and Water Management Plan (MLWMP) was developed for the Macalister Irrigation District (MID) and surrounding catchment areas, and was released in 2008. It was originally created to renew the Macalister Irrigation District Nutrient Reduction Plan. It had a focus on managing nutrients and water in the MID to protect the Gippsland Lakes from algal blooms. It also incorporated the management of other natural resources in the MID and surrounding dryland areas, including biodiversity, wetlands, floodplains, waterways and groundwater.

The MLWMP is current being reviewed and will be replaced with the Lake Wellington Land and Water Management Plan (LW LWMP). For more information about the renewal of the plan, please contact Caitlin Pilkington on 1300 094 262.
