Introducing our waterways

Latrobe River

Covering a course of 270 kilometres, the Latrobe River is the longest waterway in our catchment. The head waters of the Latrobe are shared with the Yarra River in the Baw Baw plateau above Noojee. Passing through the urban areas of the Latrobe Valley including Moe, Morwell and Traralgon down to its mouth at Lake Wellington descending 764 metres. This is a slow moving river system because of its length and the type of river.
